Oma-jack
Poker with 5 Community Cards
Best 5 card poker hand
Number of players: 2-9
Stakes: Pot Limit (typical), No Limit , Fixed
Wild cards: no
Overview
The object is to make the best possible five-card hand, using 2 of your hole cards and the best blackjack hand with the other 2 cards.
Players are dealt four hole cards, and must make a five-card hand using exactly two hole cards and three community cards. The pot will be split with the best Blackjack hand formed with the other two hole cards and any optionally purchased cards.
How To Play
Each player is dealt four cards face down, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
There is a round of betting where each player can fold, call, or raise. Betting starts left of the dealer or left of the big blind.
Community cards are dealt as a three card street (flop), a one card street (turn) and a one card street (river) with betting rounds following each street. A "burn" card is dealt before each street.
At showdown, players will separate their hand into two 2-card hands - one for blackjack and one for Omaha. Players may optionally "take a hit" (add a card or cards to their blackjack hand). Each "hit" will cost some price (usually $2-$3 with our buy-ins). Sometimes, players are limited to only one "hit". Money in the pot for hits will be added to the Blackjack pot only.
Determining the Winner
Each player's poker hand will be the five-card poker hand using BOTH hole cards designated for Omaha. Best Blackjack hand (21 or less) will split the pot.
Aces can play high or low.
